Identity verification is required for all HarborMint accounts. Here is what you need to know before you begin.
HarborMint is a registered Money Services Business. Federal law, specifically the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA PATRIOT Act, requires that we verify the identity of every customer before providing services. This is not optional and it is not negotiable.
The Customer Identification Program (CIP) is a core part of our AML compliance framework. It protects against the use of financial services for illegal purposes. It also protects you as a customer by ensuring that only you can access your account.
We do not process transactions for unverified accounts. Period.
All documents must be current, legible, and issued by a recognized authority. Expired documents are not accepted.
One of the following is required:
A document showing your current residential address, dated within 90 days:
A clear photo of yourself holding your government-issued ID. This confirms that the person submitting documents is the account holder. Requirements:
Create your account and complete the online application form with your personal information. This includes your full legal name, date of birth, residential address, and Social Security Number or ITIN as required by federal law.
Upload clear images of your required documents through the secure document upload portal. Images must be in focus, fully visible, and unedited. Documents showing signs of alteration will not be accepted.
Our compliance team reviews your submitted documents. Review times vary based on submission volume and document quality. You will be notified by email of the review status. Do not submit duplicate applications during this period.
If your documents are accepted, your account is activated for trading. If additional information is needed, we will contact you by email with specific instructions. Accounts that cannot be verified will not be activated.
Certain accounts or transactions may require Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) under our AML program. EDD may apply when transaction volumes or patterns warrant additional review, when a customer is identified as a Politically Exposed Person (PEP), or when other risk factors are present.
If your account is flagged for EDD, our compliance team will contact you with specific documentation requirements. Providing complete and accurate information during this process is required to maintain account access.
