Regulatory Compliance
FinCEN Registration and Bank Secrecy Act
Ethio American LLC is registered with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as a Money Services Business. As an MSB, we are subject to the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), 31 U.S.C. § 5311 et seq., and its implementing regulations at 31 C.F.R. Chapter X. Our BSA compliance program includes written policies and procedures, internal controls, independent testing, a designated compliance officer, and ongoing employee training.
USA PATRIOT Act Compliance
HarborMint maintains a Customer Identification Program (CIP) as required by Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT Act (31 U.S.C. § 5318(l)). All customers must be identified and verified before any services are provided. We screen customers against OFAC's Specially Designated Nationals list and other applicable government watchlists. We do not provide services to persons or entities on applicable sanctions lists.
State Money Transmission Licensing
Money transmission and cryptocurrency exchange services are regulated at the state level in addition to federal requirements. HarborMint operates in compliance with applicable state money transmission laws. Services may not be available in all states. Customers are responsible for ensuring that use of HarborMint services is permitted in their state of residence. We do not provide services to residents of states where such services are not legally authorized.

Services may not be available in all states. We assess state licensing requirements on an ongoing basis as the regulatory landscape for cryptocurrency services evolves. AML/KYC Policy
Identity Verification Requirements
All customers are required to complete identity verification before accessing HarborMint services. Verification requires government-issued photo identification, proof of current residential address, and a selfie photograph confirming the identity of the document holder. Social Security Numbers or ITINs are collected as required by federal law. No anonymous accounts are created or maintained. No anonymous transactions are processed under any circumstances.
Transaction Monitoring
HarborMint conducts ongoing transaction monitoring across all customer accounts. Monitoring systems review transaction patterns, amounts, frequencies, and counterparties for indicators of potentially suspicious activity. Monitoring is automated and supplemented by manual review by our compliance team. Transaction limits and velocity controls are applied as part of our risk management framework.
Suspicious Activity Reporting
As required by 31 U.S.C. § 5318(g) and implementing regulations, HarborMint files Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with FinCEN when we know, suspect, or have reason to suspect that a transaction involves funds from illegal activity, is designed to evade reporting requirements, lacks a lawful purpose, or involves use of our services to facilitate criminal activity. SAR filings are confidential and customers are not notified of SAR filings as required by law.
Currency Transaction Reports
HarborMint files Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) with FinCEN for transactions involving more than $10,000 in currency in a single business day, as required by 31 C.F.R. § 1022.310. Structuring transactions to avoid CTR reporting requirements is a federal crime. We report structuring activity when detected.

The value of cryptocurrency can decrease rapidly and without warning. You may lose some or all of the value of any cryptocurrency you hold through HarborMint. Cryptocurrency markets operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and prices can change significantly in short periods.
HarborMint does not provide investment advice, financial recommendations, or guidance on whether to buy, sell, or hold any cryptocurrency. Nothing on this website or communicated by our team constitutes investment advice. All decisions to engage in cryptocurrency transactions are made solely by the customer.
Regulatory changes in the United States or other jurisdictions may affect the legality, availability, or tax treatment of cryptocurrency. Customers are responsible for understanding and complying with their own tax obligations related to cryptocurrency transactions. HarborMint does not provide tax advice.
Consumer Protections
Error Resolution Procedures
If you believe an error has occurred in connection with your HarborMint account or a transaction, notify us promptly in writing at support@harbormint.co.com. Include your full name, account information, description of the suspected error, and the transaction date and amount. We will investigate all reported errors and provide a written response. Investigation timelines may vary based on the nature and complexity of the error.
Complaint Submission Process
Customers may submit complaints about HarborMint services by contacting us at support@harbormint.co.com or by mail at 7510 Woodward Ave, Woodridge, IL 60517. Please include your full name, contact information, account details, and a detailed description of your complaint. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and work to resolve it. Customers also have the right to submit complaints to FinCEN, applicable state regulators, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at consumerfinance.gov.
Cancellation Rights
Once a cryptocurrency transaction is confirmed and broadcast to the blockchain network, it cannot be reversed or cancelled. Customers should review all transaction details carefully before confirming. If a transaction has not yet been processed, contact us immediately at support@harbormint.co.com or by phone at +1 (630) 985-8823. We will make reasonable efforts to assist with pre-confirmation cancellations where technically possible.
Data Protection
Privacy Practices Summary
Ethio American LLC collects personal information necessary to provide services and comply with legal obligations. This includes identity verification information, transaction records, and account information. We do not sell personal information. We share information with service providers and governmental authorities as required by law. Full details of our privacy practices are available in our Privacy Policy.
CCPA Compliance for California Residents
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). These rights include the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion (subject to BSA retention requirements), the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. To exercise these rights, submit a written request to support@harbormint.co.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before processing requests.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
As a financial institution subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), we provide customers with privacy notices describing our information sharing practices. We implement safeguards to protect customer financial information as required by the GLBA Safeguards Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 314).
